Sales Skills for Non-Salespeople

Michael Whitehouse, author of The Guy Who Knows a Guy and host of the podcast of the same name, will be leading an interactive workshop sharing the basics of sales and business development for entrepreneurs who find themselves needing to act as salespeople and not liking it very much.

Craft Your Powerful Leadership Story

The use of storytelling can change a company’s culture and dictate one’s leadership legacy. While leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs may understand the need to tell stories, they may not grasp how vital it is to do it purposefully and in a way that sticks. After all, if the stories don’t stick, they will not trickle down to the very people that do the work, retain the customers, and march the company forward. As millennials are looking for inspiration and companies are looking to decrease turnover, telling the right story to your employees is the very thing that will grow your business and seal your legacy.

About Bridget: Bridget K. Brown is a public speaking, storytelling coach and facilitator who specializes in making the complex clear and coaching the right story out of people. She is an expert in science communication, especially in the area of technology data and cyber security.  Her ability to coach out of a team, or an individual, the story that needs to be told, reaps great benefits in the areas of science communication, change management, public speaking and storytelling for marketing.  She combines her background as an actress, writer, and instructional designer by using elements of improvisation and storytelling, as well as graphic design for visual storytelling.

With 15+ years of instructional design and facilitation experience, Bridget has trained at the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University and Duarte Academy for Presentation Skills in Silicon Valley.

She is a former Adjunct Instructor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Washington University in St Louis.  She has created global security awareness programs for two Fortune 500 companies; coached scientists in TEDx talks and helped organizations within the healthcare industry tell stories which aid them to sell their data-driven products in order to increase their bottom line.

Self-Publish a Book/Booklet About You or Your Expertise

Every business owner should write a book. With modern self publishing technology, it’s easier than ever to put your expertise in print. Nothing demonstrates your expertise like a bound book. Used as a presentation piece, a leave behind, and even an entree into speaking engagements, your book can change the way you promote your business.

Lisa Saunders is an award-winning writer and speaker. A graduate of Cornell University, she is the author of over 10 books and holds writing and publishing workshops at New London Adult & Continuing Education. Her books have been instrumental in gaining new clients and helping Connecticut become the second state in the U.S. to enact a law combating the #1 birth defects virus, congenital CMV.

Rachel Dash-Dougherty, LCSW, RYT200
The Grounded Therapist

Treat Yo Self 2019 – Self Care for Entrepreneurs

About Rachel:
My practice has two branches. The first is Grounded Therapy, a more traditional method of talk therapy with a focus on mindfulness. In our sessions, we’ll work on breaking  through the anxieties and blocks holding you back from realizing your goals. Whatever your challenge — chronic illness, new motherhood, career change — I’m here for you, and for the process. I won’t BS you, or simply nod and agree. I will challenge you, support you, and validate your experiences.  I’ll encourage you to find balance by questioning your perception of life versus your reality, then help you move toward a place where you can be confident in whatever you do.
Of course, talk therapy isn’t for everyone. For those who have difficulty sitting still during sessions but still want to do the work, or who feel disconnected from their body and want to change, I offer Grounded Yoga Therapy. My training in TCTSY (Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga), and my focus on mindfulness combined with traditional talk therapy approaches can offer new ways for you to access and guide your healing process.

You’ll probably find some unicorn paraphernalia scattered around my office, I am a big fan of Ruth Bader Ginsberg, I use essential oils often, and I always have at least one coffee cup next to me. And, like many of my clients, I’m continuing my own journey toward mindfulness.

Using a combination of mindfulness skills, yoga movement and self assessment attendees will learn how to manage stress and be more productive by taking better care of themselves.
