Join us Thursday, April 25th for the first ever Southeast Connecticut Business Conference: a full day of educational workshops and powerful networking to take your business to the next level.
This event will include three breakout sessions with your choice of three tracks each, so you can customize your experience to maximize the benefit for your business.
Sales Skills for Non-Salespeople
Michael Whitehouse, author of The Guy Who Knows a Guy and host of the podcast of the same name, will be leading an interactive workshop sharing the basics of sales and business development for entrepreneurs who find themselves needing to act as salespeople and not liking it very much.
Michael’s workshops are always highly interactive and a lot of fun. Built around a broad outline, but focusing on the specific challenges and questions you bring to it, this workshop is sure to provide you valuable, actionable information. You’ll learn techniques to connect with prospects and remove some of the terror from the process.
Formulating a Winning Social Media Strategy
Karen Etchells is a Digital Marketing Strategist who has been working in website design and development since 1996. With Innovast Digital Marketing, Karen provides website design and content marketing services, including social media management, email marketing, blog writing, reputation management and search engine optimization (SEO).
Karen helps businesses to be highly competitive online — to better position themselves on the web, increase engagement with their current client base and attract new opportunities for greater sales. Karen crafts content that builds on that ‘know-like-trust’ factor and invites contact.
Are you looking to grow your business on the web? In this session, Karen will outline the process of creating and implementing an effective social media strategy.
You will learn how to:
- Assess where you are and where you want to be
- Define your target audience
- Establish an editorial calendar
- Generate high quality, engaging content
- Build momentum on social channels
- Measure success: Track, analyze and optimize
Michelle’s workshops around financial planning, strategy and goal setting have filled rooms and changed lives around the region.
We are still working on developing the precise details of Michelle’s workshop, but with Michelle Jacobik, we know that it will be something well worth the trip.
Craft Your Powerful Leadership Story
The use of storytelling can change a company’s culture and dictate one’s leadership legacy. While leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs may understand the need to tell stories, they may not grasp how vital it is to do it purposefully and in a way that sticks. After all, if the stories don’t stick, they will not trickle down to the very people that do the work, retain the customers, and march the company forward. As millennials are looking for inspiration and companies are looking to decrease turnover, telling the right story to your employees is the very thing that will grow your business and seal your legacy.

Self-Publish a Book/Booklet About You or Your Expertise
Every business owner should write a book. With modern self publishing technology, it’s easier than ever to put your expertise in print. Nothing demonstrates your expertise like a bound book. Used as a presentation piece, a leave behind, and even an entree into speaking engagements, your book can change the way you promote your business.
Lisa Saunders is an award-winning writer and speaker. A graduate of Cornell University, she is the author of over 10 books and holds writing and publishing workshops at New London Adult & Continuing Education. Her books have been instrumental in gaining new clients and helping Connecticut become the second state in the U.S. to enact a law combating the #1 birth defects virus, congenital CMV.
Treat Yo Self 2019 – Self Care for Entrepreneurs
My practice has two branches. The first is Grounded Therapy, a more traditional method of talk therapy with a focus on mindfulness. In our sessions, we’ll work on breaking through the anxieties and blocks holding you back from realizing your goals. Whatever your challenge — chronic illness, new motherhood, career change — I’m here for you, and for the process. I won’t BS you, or simply nod and agree. I will challenge you, support you, and validate your experiences. I’ll encourage you to find balance by questioning your perception of life versus your reality, then help you move toward a place where you can be confident in whatever you do.
Of course, talk therapy isn’t for everyone. For those who have difficulty sitting still during sessions but still want to do the work, or who feel disconnected from their body and want to change, I offer Grounded Yoga Therapy. My training in TCTSY (Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga), and my focus on mindfulness combined with traditional talk therapy approaches can offer new ways for you to access and guide your healing process.
You’ll probably find some unicorn paraphernalia scattered around my office, I am a big fan of Ruth Bader Ginsberg, I use essential oils often, and I always have at least one coffee cup next to me. And, like many of my clients, I’m continuing my own journey toward mindfulness.
Using a combination of mindfulness skills, yoga movement and self assessment attendees will learn how to manage stress and be more productive by taking better care of themselves.
