Information we collect and why
Forms, inquiries, and correspondence. We collect the information you choose to provide through contact forms, signup forms, registration forms, questionnaires, email, and other communications. Depending on the form or request, this may include your name, email address, phone number, business details, preferences, and the contents of your message. We use this information to respond, fulfill your request, and manage our relationship with you. Each form’s fields and accompanying explanation provide more detail about the information requested.
Resources, events, and services. When you request a resource, register for an event, book time with us, or purchase a product or service, we use the information you provide to deliver what you requested, communicate relevant details, provide support, and maintain transaction and business records. Completing a form does not automatically mean you have agreed to every type of future marketing; the form’s subscription choices and explanation apply.
Assessments and interactive tools. Our questionnaires and other tools may collect your responses, preferences, information about your business, and the results produced from your responses. We use this information to provide the tool’s functionality, tailor recommendations, understand the help you are seeking, and improve our offerings. The following diagnostic is one example.
AI Business Diagnostic. When you submit the diagnostic, we save your email address, your name if provided, your answers, your description of what you want AI to help with, and your result. We also record your email marketing preference and its timestamp, referral or campaign information, and clicks on booking links. This helps us present your result, understand your needs, and assess how well the diagnostic works.
The diagnostic calculates your result using predefined scoring rules. The diagnostic itself does not send your answers to a generative AI service to produce that result. This description applies specifically to that diagnostic, rather than every tool or service we may offer.
Please do not include passwords, financial account details, sensitive personal information, or confidential information about other people in general forms, messages, or assessment answers. Use the designated payment service to submit payment details.
Website activity. Our website runs on WordPress and is hosted by DreamHost. We use Google Analytics, installed through MonsterInsights, to understand visits, along with WordPress tools to maintain the website. Depending on the tools and settings in use, technical information may include pages visited, referral sources, browser and device information, and network information. Our hosting and security systems may also process technical logs to operate the website and prevent abuse.
We use Sender.net, Moosend, and our own email systems to send communications. These systems process information needed to deliver and manage messages, such as email addresses and subscription preferences.
Our signup forms explain what you are subscribing to. Where another form offers an optional marketing subscription, that choice is separate from submitting your request. For example, the diagnostic offers a separate choice to subscribe to marketing emails, and you do not need to select it to see your result. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. We may still send communications needed to respond to a request, manage a registration, or provide a service you purchased.
Our general marketing email list is managed through Sender.net. Summit registrations and other services may use separate communication systems. Unsubscribing from the Sender list does not cancel a summit registration or stop messages needed to deliver an event or service you requested, such as access links, schedule changes, and purchase confirmations. Separate event privacy notices explain event-specific communications.
Subscription records are not automatically synchronized across every system. An unsubscribe link applies to the list or system identified in that message. For help with other subscriptions, contact michael@guywhoknowsaguy.com. These arrangements do not limit your rights to object to direct marketing or withdraw consent where applicable.
Sender.net and Moosend track email opens and link clicks. We use this information to understand engagement with our messages.
We do not currently operate an SMS marketing program.
Bookings and payments
We use Calendly for appointment scheduling and Stripe and PayPal for payment processing. When you use these services, they process the information needed to arrange a booking or complete a payment. We receive information needed to manage the appointment or transaction, such as booking details and payment status.

Meeting recordings
We use Fathom to record meetings, with Fathom visibly present on screen during recording. Recordings may contain your voice, image, and information shared during the meeting, including shared-screen content. Fathom processes meeting content to provide recording, transcription, and AI-assisted meeting notes. We use these records to review discussions and support follow-up.
If you have concerns about recording, please raise them before or during the meeting. You can also contact michael@guywhoknowsaguy.com about a recording containing your information. Fathom describes its handling of information in its privacy policy.
Cookies, browser storage, and analytics
Our website and its service providers may use cookies or similar technologies to operate features and measure website use. Google Analytics helps us understand how people use the website. See how Google uses information from sites using its services.
The diagnostic stores a random session token in your browser’s session storage. While that token remains available, it can restore your submitted result for up to 24 hours. The diagnostic also uses short-lived hashed network identifiers to limit abuse and records aggregate counts of diagnostic activity.
You can manage cookies and site storage through your browser settings. Blocking storage may affect some features, including diagnostic result recovery.
We do not currently run advertising campaigns.
Who receives information
We use service providers to operate our website and forms, maintain business systems, deliver email and requested resources, manage registrations, schedule appointments, process payments, and record meetings. These include DreamHost, Google Workspace, Sender.net, Moosend, Calendly, Stripe, PayPal, Google Analytics, and Fathom.
Depending on the form and its purpose, submissions may go to Google Workspace, Sender.net, or our own business systems. We use these systems to store submissions, respond to requests, and manage services and communications.
We may disclose information when legally required, to address fraud or security incidents, or to establish or protect legal rights. If ownership of the business changes, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to applicable obligations.
We never sell personal information or give contact information to partners for their independent marketing. We may promote partners in our own communications. Signing up with a partner is a separate opt-in, governed by the information provided when you sign up. Events with their own privacy notices explain the handling of information collected for those events.
How long we keep information
We currently keep general form submissions, correspondence, subscription records, and customer records indefinitely rather than applying a fixed deletion schedule. You can contact us to request deletion. This practice does not limit any rights or retention restrictions that apply under law.
Individual tools and service providers may apply shorter retention periods. Diagnostic result-recovery sessions expire after 24 hours; diagnostic submissions and aggregate metrics are subject to the tool’s configured cleanup settings. Analytics, technical logs, and backups are also subject to the relevant system settings.
Deleting a record from our website does not automatically delete copies already held in an email service or another connected system. We handle relevant copies when responding to deletion requests, subject to applicable retention obligations.
Your choices and requests
You can contact michael@guywhoknowsaguy.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, or to ask how it is used. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Some records may need to be retained for legal, accounting, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have additional rights concerning your personal information. Where UK data protection law applies, these may include rights to access, correct or erase information, restrict its use, request portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. These rights are subject to applicable conditions and exceptions. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Our website and services are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact michael@guywhoknowsaguy.com so we can investigate and address it.
Security and service locations
We use safeguards intended to protect personal information, but no website, transmission method, or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Our business is based in Connecticut, United States, and service providers may process information in other countries.
